Vietnam, Cambodia increase search for soldiers’ remains

The Cambodian government and people will continue to work with Vietnam in searching and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and specialists who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia during the war.

General Pol Saruon, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, made statement at the 13th meeting of the special task force committees of the Vietnamese and Cambodian governments on the work in Ho Chi Minh City on July 8. 

The two committees spoke highly of efficiency of their cooperation, which has resulted in the repatriation of the remains of more than 16,000 Vietnamese soldiers since 2001. 

Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Thanh Cung, expressed his thanks to the Cambodian Government committee and people for their support to the search. 

The two sides also agreed to keep 11 teams for the work, hoping to find about 500 remains during the 2014-2015 dry season.
