Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Monument unveiled in Ratanakiri

VOV.VN - A ceremony was held in Cambodia on November 3 to inaugurate a Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Monument in the northeastern province of Ratanakiri, bordering with Vietnam’s Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces.

In attendance at the inauguration ceremony were Permanent Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the National Council of the Solidarity for the Development of the Cambodian Motherland Nhem Valy, Ratanakiri governor Thon Savun, Vietnamese Military Attaché in Cambodia Nguyen Anh Dung and a large number of Cambodian officials, people and students.

Ratanakiri Governor Thon Savun expressed his profound gratitude to the Vietnamese Party, Government, people and volunteer soldiers for their assistance to Cambodia during its struggle to overthrow Pol Pot’s genocidal regime, laying down the foundation for the peace and development that Cambodia enjoys today.

Colonel Nguyen Anh Dung reiterated his belief that the inauguration of the monument in Ratanakiri demonstrates the friendly relations and solidarity that exists between the two countries and paid tribute to the great sacrifices made by both Cambodians and Vietnamese volunteers who laid down their lives for their nations.

He said he believes that the ties of friendship and traditional solidarity between the two nations, people and armies will further thrive in the future.
