Vietnam boosts labor cooperation with RoK with VGCL visit
VOV.VN - A high-level delegation from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL), led by Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee and President of VGCL, visited the Republic of Korea (RoK) for meetings and exchanges from November 27-29.
During the visit, the delegation had a working session with the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) to learn about labor dispute resolution processes, mediation, and labor litigation. They also met with the Korea Employment Information Service (KLES) to discuss support mechanisms for Vietnamese workers in RoK and Korean enterprises operating in Vietnam.
On November 28, the delegation held talks with the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) to share experience in trade union activities and explore ways to enhance cooperation between VGCL and FKTU in the coming period.
Through these discussions with RoK counterparts, both sides reaffirmed the strong diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the RoK. They agreed on the importance of close coordination between VGCL and RoK labor authorities to strengthen support for workers and enterprises, foster harmonious labor relations, and advance mutual interests. With bilateral cooperation deepening, exchanges in human resources have emerged as a key area of focus.
During the visit, the VGCL delegation also met with Vietnamese Embassy staff in RoK. The VGCL leader shared the outcomes of the mission and updated the Embassy on recent developments within VGCL, particularly the ongoing restructuring of trade union organizations within the state apparatus, while highlighting the correctness and effectiveness of recent decisions regarding union operations.
Representing the Embassy, Vietnamese Ambassador to RoK Vu Ho provided updates on the development of the Vietnam-RoK comprehensive strategic partnership. He emphasized that the Vietnamese community in RoK continues to grow in both size and quality, with more than 350,000 Vietnamese residing in the country of residence, contributing to both their homeland and local socio-economic development.
Ambassador Vu Ho also noted the challenges faced by the community, including cultural, legal, and language barriers. He hailed the Embassy’s efforts to support Vietnamese residents in integrating into RoK society while preserving and nurturing the unique cultural identity of the Vietnamese community.
