Vietnam BirdRace 2026 connects birdwatchers and nature lovers
VOV.VN - Vietnam BirdRace 2026 will take place from May 8 to 10 at Cat Tien National Park, continuing to connect birdwatchers, nature lovers and wildlife photographers through a competition in which participants document bird species through photography within a set time frame.
Amid increasingly fast-paced lives, Vietnam BirdRace 2026 continues to serve as a gathering point for birdwatchers, nature lovers and wildlife photographers.
More than just a competition, the event also provides a space for professional exchanges, sharing field experiences, showcasing photographs and equipment, and promoting biodiversity conservation.
Following its first edition at Tram Chim National Park in Dong Thap province in 2024 and its second edition at Bidoup-Nui Ba National Park in Lam Dong province in 2025, held alongside celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of the Langbiang Biosphere Reserve, Vietnam BirdRace 2026 will continue at Cat Tien National Park, one of southern Vietnam’s notable birdwatching destinations.
With its lowland forest ecosystem, wetlands and diverse observation routes, Cat Tien is considered well suited to host the BirdRace not only because of its biodiversity value but also its potential for ecotourism, environmental education and nature research.
Organisers said each participating team will enter a special “race”, not to outpace one another through speed, but through patience, observation skills and a love for nature. Moments of birds spreading their wings, birdsong echoing through forests or across windy fields can all become valuable photographs.
Each image serves as a record of a bird species and a reflection of the connection between people and nature.
The appeal of Vietnam BirdRace also lies beyond the main competition, serving as a forum where birdwatchers, researchers, photographers and nature lovers can share field experiences as well as birdwatching and photography techniques in natural environments.
The organisers noted that stories about dawn forest trips, encounters with rare bird species or photographs captured after hours of patient waiting continue to inspire the birding and nature community.
Cat Tien is currently home to around 298 bird species, compared with 330 species listed in earlier studies and records. Vietnam BirdRace 2026 therefore carries significance beyond a competition, while contributing to raising public awareness about biodiversity conservation and encouraging people to appreciate the beauty of the natural world around them.
