Vietnam and UAE strengthen scientific research cooperation

VOV.VN - A delegation from the Scientific Council of central Party agencies, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Linh, vice chairman of the council, visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 1 to 7 to share experience in policy making, digital transformation, and innovation.

During their stay, Vietnamese officials had working sessions at UAE University, Khalifa University, the TRENDS Research and Advisory Organization, the UAE Museum of the Future, as well as several scientific and technological organizations under the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.

At the meetings, leaders from UAE agencies and research institutes provided the delegation with information on the UAE’s achievements and experience in carrying out scientific research and innovation in a number of key areas, including the development of artificial intelligence, the building of big data systems, and human resource development at research institutions and major universities.

They shared experience in establishing mechanisms and policies for the transfer and application of research results in socio-economic development, developing startups, and implementing scientific and technological projects. They also proposed measures to enhance information exchange, organize joint seminars, and conduct scientific activities between the two countries.

Currently, economic cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE is flourishing, with their two-way trade estimated at nearly US$4 billion in the first seven months of 2024, marking a 47% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Vietnam and the UAE vow to further promote comprehensive cooperation across all sectors, including economy, trade, investment, innovation, renewable energy, logistics, technology, tourism, and agriculture.

In particular, both countries are committed to elevating their bilateral relationship and completing negotiations to soon sign the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
