Vietnam and Cambodia conduct joint military medical exercise
VOV.VN - Vietnamese and Cambodian armies took part in a joint military medical exercise in Tay Ninh province on November 13 as part of the second Vietnam-Cambodia Border Defence Friendship Exchange.
In the joint military medical exercise, the two armies coordinated with local health authorities to respond to a scenario caused by prolonged heavy rain leading to flooding, unstable geological conditions, and the collapse of three high-rise construction projects, resulting in casualties among workers and local residents.
The exercise included joint military medical command; on-site emergency care; triage, emergency treatment at medical stations; and transport by ambulance and helicopter.
The joint event aims to strengthen coordination, train military and civilian medical personnel in procedures from field command, search and rescue, first aid, emergency treatment, to specialised care. It also offers an opportunity for Vietnamese and Cambodian armed forces to share experience and learn from each other in medical practice and military medical force organisation.
Taking place on November 13 - 14, in the shared border area of Vietnam’s Tay Ninh province and Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, the second Vietnam-Cambodia Border Defence Friendship Exchange is a key defence diplomacy activity of 2025 for the armed forces of both countries.
Both countries are set to hold activities in Vietnamese and Cambodian sides during the two-day event including a tree-planting ceremony, inauguration of the Binh Cau Primary School boarding area, joint border patrols, groundbreaking for the Sang Sovan Primary School friendship project, and a Vietnam-Cambodia young officers’ exchange.
The first Border Defence Friendship Exchange was held in 2022 in Vietnam’s former Binh Phuoc province and Cambodia’s Kratie province.
