Vietnam Airlines repatriates 350 Vietnamese citizens from Australia
VOV.VN - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on October 30 safely repatriated more than 350 Vietnamese citizens left stranded in Australia and New Zealand due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Passengers on board the repatriation flight were minors under 18, the elderly, guest workers whose labour contracts had expired, and other special cases.
Vietnamese agencies in Australia and New Zealand worked closely with relevant partners of the host countries to assist the citizens with travel to airports in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as with necessary procedure before their departure.
Vietnam Airlines implemented necessary epidemiological measures during the flight to prevent possible spread of the virus.
All passengers were examined and quarantined according to regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control as soon as the plane landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, southern Vietnam.
Vietnamese authorities are arranging more repatriation flights to bring home more Vietnamese citizens stranded overseas in accordance with the epidemic situation and isolation capacity in the country.
