According to Vietnam Airlines, about 40 minutes after takeoff, the passenger showed signs of poor health and fainted, prompting the cabin crew to provide initial first aid following emergency medical protocols.

As the passenger’s condition did not improve, the flight crew decided to divert and make an emergency landing at Da Nang International Airport to ensure timely access to ground-based medical support.

Upon landing, Vietnam Airlines representatives in Da Nang in coordination with airport medical units and competent agencies to promptly take the passenger to the hospital for medial support.

The airline also assigned staff to accompany the passenger’s family members and assist with necessary procedures while monitoring the ongoing treatment.

Following the completion of medical support procedures, flight VN837 resumed its journey and landed safely in Siem Reap at 7:10 p.m. the same day.

According to a Vietnam Airlines representative, this is one of several instances in which the airline has adjusted flight schedules to assist passengers in need of urgent medical care. On July 6, flight VN56 from Hanoi to the UK was diverted to Kolkata, India. On June 30, flight VN7569 from Hanoi to Nha Trang landed in Da Nang, and on June 16, flight VN158 from Da Nang to Hanoi made an unscheduled landing at Phu Bai Airport, Hue, for similar reasons.

Vietnam Airlines advises passengers to monitor their health closely before traveling. If any unusual symptoms appear, passengers are encouraged to consult a doctor and carefully consider their fitness to fly to ensure a safe journey.
