Vietnam Airlines brings home more Vietnamese citizens from abroad
VOV.VN - More than 240 Vietnamese citizens stranded in Singapore due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic have been safely repatriated as part of the joint efforts by the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore in coordination with relevant agencies of Vietnam and the host country.
A Vietnam Airlines plane carrying the citizens touched down at Can Tho International Airport in southern Vietnam on November 7, with the majority of the passengers being the elderly, people with underlying health issues, and other special cases.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore dispatched officials to assist the citizens with necessary procedures ahead of their departure.
Vietnam Airlines implemented epidemic prevention measures to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 during the journey.
Upon arrival at at Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport., all members of the flight crew and passengers underwent heath checkups and were immediately put in quarantine in line with regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.
Meanwhile, more than 340 Vietnamese citizens in Germany and Romania were also brought home on November 7 and 8 aboard a flight conducted by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines.
Amid travel restrictions, Vietnamese representative agencies abroad have worked closely with host countries’ competent agencies to facilitate Vietnamese citizens’ journey to gathering places in Frankfurt (Germany) and Bucharest (Romania) to board the flight.
All passengers and crew members received medical check-ups and were sent to quarantine in line with regulations upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietnamese authorities and overseas missions are set to arrange more repatriation flights to bring home more Vietnamese citizens in the near future. The schedule of future flights is likely to depend on both the citizens’ demand and the quarantine capacity at home.
