Vietnam Airlines brings home close to 240 Vietnamese citizens from Ukraine

VOV.VN - A VN28 flight of national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, departed at 15:00 (local time), on August 31, bringing home a total of 239 Vietnamese citizens from Ukraine.

This is the most special and rare ever flight which was conducted amid the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world and in Ukraine. Notably,  the world has to face the second wave of the pandemic outbreak while Ukraine registers as many as 2,500 new coronavirus cases every day, ranking 7th in Europe in the total figure of infection).

The majority of the passengers included children, elderly people, people with underlying illnesses, students with expired visa and having no accommodations, stranded guest workers, and others in extremely disadvantaged circumstances. In addition, the flight also brought home two outgoing embassy officials and their families.

The repatriation flight showed the great effort made by collectives and individuals at home and abroad as well as close coordination of the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine and relevant agencies of both nations in helping repatriate Vietnamese nationals left stranded due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It has also once again demonstrated the right and consistent policy of the Party and Government towards Vietnamese citizens both at home and abroad which leaves no one left behind in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
