Vice President meets overseas Vietnamese in Russia

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh had a warm meeting with staff at the Vietnam Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese expat community in Russia on September 18.
At the gathering in Moscow, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh informed the Vice President on the embassy’s operation, expatriates’ affairs, and the development of Vietnam – Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, particularly after the visit to Russia by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong earlier this September.
Vice President Thinh said in the first nine months of 2018, Vietnam’s economy grew at a rate of 7.08 percent, the highest in 11 years. Most recently, the country hosted the World Economic Forum on ASEAN, attracting the participation of heads of State of 10 countries and 1,000 domestic and international enterprises.
She noted the event reflected Vietnam’s active integration process and its enhanced position and prestige in the global stage.
The Vice President also talked about encouraging outcomes in poverty alleviation, development in culture, education, and health, and sustained political stability and social security and orders.
She urged the expat community to become a bridge connecting the two nations.
Representatives of Vietnamese associations and clubs in Russia expressed their delight at progress made in their home country across fields, including corruption fighting.
