Valuable artifacts, documents on Vietnam-Indonesia friendship exhibited
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Military History Museum, in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, on December 23 opened an exhibition featuring valuable artifacts and documents in celebration of 70 years of the Vietnam–Indonesia friendship.
The exhibition presents more than 200 documents, photographs and artefacts reflecting the countries, peoples, history and culture of Vietnam and Indonesia, while highlighting the two countries’ comprehensive and in-depth cooperation across various fields, particularly in defence.
Colonel Le Vu Huy, director of the Vietnam Military History Museum, said the display is structured in three main themes: similarities between Vietnam and Indonesia, comprehensive strategic cooperation, and the development of defence cooperation.
In her remarks, Jane Runkat, Charge d'Affaires of the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam, noted that the exhibition serves as vivid evidence of the long-standing friendship between the two countries.
On December 30, 1955, Indonesia became the first Southeast Asian country to officially establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Over the past 70 years, she said, Vietnam–Indonesia relations have continued to expand across multiple areas of cooperation.
The exhibition features numerous rare images, artefacts and archival materials, including items being displayed publicly for the first time. These include a collection of gifts presented by the Indonesian State to President Ho Chi Minh; letters from Indonesian listeners sent to the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) International; gifts from Indonesian military delegations to the Vietnam People’s Army during official visits; as well as a water bucket and a pilot’s uniform used by Army Corps 18 during aerial firefighting missions in Indonesia.
In addition, the exhibition introduces 70 contemporary photographic works, comprising 35 pieces by Vietnamese photographers and 35 by Indonesian photographers.
Through the display, the public, officials, soldiers and citizens gain deeper insight into the historical value and significance of the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Indonesia - a relationship laid by President Ho Chi Minh and President Sukarno, and now developed into a comprehensive strategic partnership. The exhibition contributes to preserving, strengthening and further promoting the traditional friendship and solidarity between the two nations.
