US Consulate General inspires environmental protection in Khanh Hoa

VOV.VN - Staff of the US Consulate General and Youth Union members of Khanh Hoa province on April 26 went to Vinh Luong fishing port in Nha Trang city to clean up garbage in the lead up to World Environment Day.

They collected tonnes of garbage at the fishing port for treatment, and at the same time, encouraged local people to raise awareness of environmental protection.

US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Marie C. Damour emphasized that addressing the climate crisis is the top priority of the US government and its mission in Vietnam.

This is also a very important issue for the Government and people of Vietnam, she noted.

The diplomat revealed that the US Government is developing clean energy cooperation programmes with Vietnam to prevent global warming.

Marie C. Damour is making a fact-finding tour of Khanh Hoa province to explore cooperation opportunities between the US and Khanh Hoa.

At a meeting on April 25, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hai Ninh proposed that the US Consulate General help support investment cooperation between Khanh Hoa and US partners, especially in the fields of renewable energy development, logistics, high-tech fishing, and tourism.

Damour highly appreciated Khanh Hoa’s development potential, noting that its successful control of COVID-19 has created the great advantage to attract US investors. She expected that Khanh Hoa would be an attractive destination for US investors in the near future.

Currently, there are six US enterprises operating efficiently in Khanh Hoa.
