US Ambassador joins rhino protection cycling

(VOV) - On October 25, US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius together with another US rhino ambassador and six others from South Africa cycled around West Lake and on streets in Hanoi in response to the rhino protection campaign.

The campaign is part of a string of events taking place in 8 days, which will conclude with a wild animal protection ceremony known as WildFest at Thang Long Royal Palace on November 1.

The ambassadors are to talk about the need to protect rhinos as well as combat rhino horn trade at Vietnamese schools and universities.

Great rhino protection efforts made by Vietnam and the US also form diverse activities marking 20 years of their diplomatic ties.

Both nations have cooperated in ‘Operation Game Change’ (OGC) program aiming to raise public awareness of less use of wildlife products and enhance bilateral environment security cooperation.

The US diplomat expressed his delight to ride a bicycle to respond to the campaign.

If everyone knows that rhino horn has no value, they will stop hunting, trading and donating it. We join hands to save rhino from extinction. Rhino horn is not medicine. It is expensive but unvalued, Ted Osius noted when talking about the purpose of the cycling.
