UPDATE: 16 more community cases confirmed over six hours
VOV.VN - Sixteen more people have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus during the past six hours, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in its 12.00hrs update on May 15.
Nine cases were detected in Bac Giang closely associated with the ongoing COVID-19 outbreaks at Van Trung and Quang Chau industrial parks.
Two cases more each were reported in Hanoi and Dien Bien, and one each more in Bac Ninh, Ha Nam and Hung Yen. They all had close contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients.
Earlier in the morning, the MoH reported a further 20 local infections, including 15 in Bac Giang province.
Vietnam has so far documented 823 new community infections in 26 cities and provinces nationwide since the virus recurred in late April.
In its 12.00hrs update, the MoH also announced two imported cases returning from Japan and Malaysia. The two Vietnamese citizens were placed in quarantine as soon as they landed, thus posing no risk to the community.
Meanwhile, scientists have completed genome sequencing of specimen recorded in Da Nang, showing all the patients had carried the variant B.1.1.7 which originates from the United Kingdom.
