UNFPA Representative honoured with insignia from Ministry of Home Affairs
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Home Affairs on August 19 presented an insignia “For the cause of the State organisation sector” to United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)’s Representative in Vietnam, Astrid Bant, in recognition of her contributions during her tenure in Vietnam.
Minister of Home Affairs Le Vinh Tan, in his speech, said the UNFPA and the ministry signed a cooperation programme in 2012, laying a firm and long-term foundation for their cooperation.
The project “Capacity support for the implementation of the National Youth Development Strategy 2011-2020,” has helped Vietnam effectively fulfill targets on health care, productive health, HIV prevention and fight against gender-based violence among youths as set in the strategy.
The UNFPA has also worked with the ministry on another project aimed at supporting the Vietnamese Government in building and supervising the implementation of policies on youth development from December 2017 to December 2021, Tan said.
The Minister also hailed the UNFPA official’s assistance to the ministry in the building, issuance and implementation of policies and laws on young people, including the revised law on youth.
In reply, Bant said the UNFPA has placed the top priority on comprehensive youth development and desires to boost long-term cooperation with the ministry in this regard.
