Unexploded 100 kg bomb discovered in north Vietnam
VOV.VN - Sappers under the northern province of Hung Yen’s Military Command safely deactivated a war-time bomb on November 12 in Kim Dong district.
According to details given by local authorities, the bomb was discovered by local residents while they were digging a drainage trench in Duong Phu village of Chinh Nghia commune.
It weighed over 113.4 kg and measured approximately 85 cm in length and 20 cm in diameter.
After receiving news about the detection of the explosive device, the provincial Military Command swiftly cordoned off the dangerous area and moved to deploy troops for safeguarding activities.
The bomb was subsequently moved to a safe place for detonation. Over recent years, sapper engineers under the Hung Yen Military Command have collected and dealt with dozens of bombs and mortar shells left over from the war, mostly in Tien Lu, Kim Dong, and Van Giang districts.
The province’s military command has warned local residents to immediately contact relevant agencies when detecting unexploded ordnances.
