UK, Vietnam augment cooperation in tertiary education
VOV.VN - A working delegation from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (HCMUE), led by Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Son, the university's Principal, has paid a working visit to the UK in a bid to strengthen exchanges and co-operation with British universities in teacher training, teaching, scientific research, and promoting gender equality in education.
During the course of five working days, the delegation attended a workshop on the Making Gender Equality Matter in Schools (MGEMS) project at Birmingham City University (BCU), worked and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with London South Bank University (LSBU), and attended the 2024 Annual Conference of the International Professional Development Association (IPDA) - a UK-based professional association in the field of education and training with more than 400 experts from across 25 countries around the world.
At the discussion on the MGEMS project at Birmingham City University, together with London South Bank University, Birmingham City University of the UK, and Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta of Indonesia, representatives shared the outstanding results achieved, and pointed out shortcomings, difficulties, and advantages in the process of implementing the project in the nation. Thehy also spent time focusing on prospects for building potential courses and programmes as part of efforts to develop the project in the future.
During the course of the working trip, the delegation also attended a workshop and presented a report by the University's Research Group at the IPDA 2024 conference at Aston University in Birmingham.
The workshop saw representatives of the IPDA Committee highly appreciate the content of the Group's report, as well as its contributions related to IPDA activities, especially in establishing an IPDA branch in Vietnam.
This visit to the UK is part of the British Council’s wider Going Global Partnerships programme and continues the institute’s commitment to expanding the diversity of its international partnerships with universities and organisations globally.
Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education has established international co-operation relations with more than 130 universities and institutes, organisations, non-governmental organisations, and companies across more than 30 countries.
The university also signed many co-operation agreements regarding student and trainee exchanges with international universities and groups in undergraduate and postgraduate training to further develop the university according to the strategic plan of the national key pedagogical school.
Most notably, exchange and co-operation activities between the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and British universities have achieved plenty of positive results which have served to promote co-operation and training links between Vietnamese and British universities, thereby contributing to strengthening linkages in the field of education between the two nations.
