Typhoon to form in East Sea

VOV.VN - A typhoon is forecast to form with strong winds in the northern area of the East Sea due to the circulation around a low-pressure center, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

On August 16, the tropical low pressure was centred at about 21.9 N latitude and 115.1 E longitude and is about 110 km in the southeast away from Hong Kong (China) with gale-force winds gusting up 40-60km per hour.

In the next 24 hours, it is predicted to move west at a speed of 10km per hour and is likely to strengthen into a typhoon.

Heavy shower, thunderstorm and whirlwinds are forecast to occur in the Tonkin Gulf and the northern area of the East Sea.

In the next 48 hours, the typhoon will move west at a speed of 10km per hour. Heavy downpours will take place in the north and north-central region.
