Thousands of houses in Dak Lak are inundated due to typhoon Nakri
According to a report on the impact of the typhoon released by the steering committee on November 12, two residents were killed as they were in the process of reinforcing their homes against the storm, whilst one person from Lam Dong province remained missing in the aftermath of the weather event.

Heavy rain brought on by typhoon Nakri damaged dozens of homes throughout the centre of the country, while 424 houses in Dak Lak province were left submerged by floodwater. Many roads have also been left flooded, isolating 360 homes throughout the locality.

In Khanh Hoa province, typhoon Narki also caused damage to hundreds of crops and dozens of hectares of aquaculture. As many as 3,400 heads of cattle and poultry were also swept away.

The dyke, irrigation, and transportation systems have been also seriously damaged due to severe flooding and landslides. Damage from the typhoon stands at an estimated VND87 billion.

Nguyen Truong Son, Deputy Chief of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, said rainfall over the next few days will get more complicated due to the impact of the incoming cold air.

He urged localities to focus efforts on overcoming the aftermath of the typhoon, while reviewing areas that are at risk of flash floods and landslides in order to evacuate people to safe shelters.

The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control also recommended that localities closely monitor the development of incoming rain and take preventive measures in order to cope with the effects of dangerous weather events.
