Typhoon Koinu weakens into tropical depression

VOV.VN - Typhoon Koinu is expected to move southwest at speeds of between 10km and 15km per hour and weaken into a tropical depression at 7:00 a.m. on October 10, according to information given by the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecast (NCHMF).

Forecasters stated that at 7:00 a.m. on October 9, the storm's centre was located in the southern sea area of Guangdong province in China, with the strongest winds near its reaching between 75km and 88km per hour.

Over the course of the next 24 to 72 hours, the storm is expected to track southwest and weaken into a low-pressure area at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.

Due to the impact of the storm, there will be strong winds and rough seas occurring in the North East Sea area, with gusts reaching level 12.

Furthermore, as a result of the increased cold air, strong winds and rough seas will hit the Gulf of Tonkin, with gusts reaching level eight on the morning of October 10.

In the north of the East Sea area, sea waves will also reach between two and three metres high, and even up to three to five metres near the centre of the storm.
