Two large wartime bombs found near Long Bien Bridge
VOV.VN - Two bombs discovered near Long Bien Bridge in Hanoi were successfully retrieved and relocated to a safe place on September 18, according to the city's Capital Command.

Through inspections, the bombs were identified as US military's Mark 118, weighing approximately 1,300 kg each and containing more than 800 kg of TNT explosive.
They were discovered near the middle of the Red River, approximately 30 meters upstream from Long Bien Bridge. They still had their fuses intact and were considered to be extremely dangerous.
Upon receiving the report, local authorities quickly mobilized forces, moved the bombs to a safe location, and set up strict surveillance while coordinating with higher authorities to determine the best course of action for disposal.
The two bombs are scheduled to be transported and detonated at the Cam Son Shooting Range in Bac Ninh province.
Long Bien Bridge, an iconic symbol of Hanoi constructed by the French between 1898 and 1902, endured bombings throughout the Vietnam War.
