Nguyen Van Hai, 38, a resident of Hung Yen province, and Nguyen Van Hanh, 40 from Ha Tinh province, were found to facilitate the illegal labour migration of 24 Vietnamese workers to Taiwan.

According to investigators, Hai had worked illegally in Taiwan from 2012 until he was deported back to Vietnam in 2023. In December 2024, he contacted Taiwanese accomplices to transport Vietnamese people to work in Taiwan.

Hai later contacted several individuals who had previously been deported and wished to return to Taiwan to work, asking them to pay him TWD130,000 each. Meanwhile, Hanh assisted in transporting people from the shore to the fishing boat.

On April 8, 2025, with assistance of Li Chia Hao, who owned the fishing boat, they carried out the plan, transporting 24 Vietnamese workers to Taiwan. After seven days at sea, Taiwan Coast Guard intercepted the vessel about 50 km off Taiwan’s coast, detaining all on board. Taiwan has so far deported 14 workers back to Vietnam, while 10 others have not yet been repatriated.

Ha Tinh authorities are continuing to complete the case file to prosecute the suspects under Vietnamese law.

Police deport 15 Chinese nationals for illegal entry

VOV.VN - The Immigration Management Department under the Ninh Thuan Provincial Police has deported 15 Chinese citizens, including two minors under the age of 16, for entering Vietnam illegally.
