Tropical depressions start to form in East Sea, bring heavy rain to Vietnam
VOV.VN - Two tropical depressions have begun forming in the East Sea, with a tropical low-pressure system likely to turn into a storm on July 7, according to the National Centre for Hydrometeorology Forecasting.
The latest tropical depression was located at approximately 15.8 degrees north latitude and 112.5 degrees east longitude on the morning of July 6, with the strongest wind near its centre reaching between 39km and 49km per hour.
Moving forward, it is expected to travel northwest at a maximum speed of roughly 10km per hour on July 6, during which time it is likely to strengthen into a storm.
By early morning on July 7, the storm is anticipated to be located about 120km southeast of China’s Hainan Island, with the strongest wind near its eye reaching between 62km and 74km per hour.
Forecasters have stated that all vessels operating in high-risk areas will be hit by strong gusts of wind, with the storm set to enter the Gulf of Tonkin before directly affecting the northern Vietnamese provinces.
Furthermore, another tropical low-pressure has also formed near the East Sea, with the centre of the tropical depression being situated in the southern territorial waters of China’s Taiwanese island.
The tropical depression is likely to move towards China’s Fujian province, with the strongest winds near its centre reaching between 39km and 49km per hour. It will then weaken into a low-pressure zone.
