Tropical depression in East Sea to impact Gulf of Tonkin

VOV.VN - A tropical depression currently active in the East Sea is anticipated to move into the Gulf of Tonkin over the course of the next 24 hours.

The next 12 hours will see the tropical depression moving east-northeast at around 10km per hour, with the centre of the tropical depression being located 140km away from Hong Kong by 7 a.m. on August 4. The strongest winds near its centre may reach between 60km and 75km per hour, with gusts at level 10.

According to details given by the National Centre for Hydrometeorology Forecasting, the Gulf of Tonkin could potentially experience increasingly strong winds, along with high waves and rough seas.

Due to the unfavourable weather conditions, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has requested that coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Thua Thien - Hue  to brace themselves for the tropical depression. They should also prepare an effective response to a range of scenarios in order to ensure the safety of local people and their properties.

Local competent forces must also regularly keep a close watch on the weather pattern to inform local residents about the developments of the tropical depression, making them stay active in moving to safe areas.
