Tropical depression enters East Sea, heads for northern Vietnam
VOV.VN - A tropical depression travelled past the Philippines’ Luzon island into the East Sea and is heading towards the northern part of Vietnam, according national meteorologists.
The tropical depression is moving west and north-west at a speed of 10-15kph and is likely to strengthen into a storm on July 15, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF).
On July 15-16 the storm is forecast to retain its course and gain further strength, said weather experts.
The National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has just sent a dispatch requesting localities from Quang Ninh to Phu Yen to closely monitor the development of the tropical depression and come up with response measures.
Meteorologists warned northern localities would endure a long spell of rain in the coming days.
This will be the first tropical storm to hit the East Sea this year.
