Vietnam Railway reported that the train carrying 24 container cars traveling from Hue to Da Nang, derailed at the locomotive’s front while getting in Lang Co early in the morning.
The train derailment occurred on the main line, causing rail operations through this section to be temporarily disrupted, it said.
Immediately after the incident, the railway sector deployed a rescue operation to remove the derailed freight train from the tracks, aiming to restore traffic on the North-South railway line as quickly as possible.
This is the fifth consecutive train derailment incident that has occurred in Thua Thien-Hue in the past two months, and the fourth taking place in Lang Co town. Four of the five derailments happened to passenger trains.
