Tragedy in HCM City as tenements collapse

VOV.VN - There were horrific scenes in the district of Tan Binh in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday, September 2, as rescuers picked through the rubble of two collapsed tenement buildings—fortunately no one was seriously injured.

The houses, numbers 41 and 47 on the street of Tan Son Hoa, inexplicably come crashing down at 10:30pm.

Number 41 falls first, enshrouding the street in a cloud of dust and debris.

In the neighbouring number 47, on hearing the roar and crash of falling masonry next door, residents make a dash for the street and escape before their own their home comes tumbling down after them.

The victims are taken to a local hospital where all later are reported in stable condition.

The search and rescue effort continue into the early hours of Sunday, September 3, morning.

Children weep for their parents and parents for their children and the loss of their homes, while all are glad to be safe.
