Total rises to 1,107 after two more imported cases confirmed

VOV.VN - The Health Ministry on October 10 confirmed a further two fresh imported cases which were put into quarantine immediately upon entry, bringing the national tally to 1,107.

Among the two new infections, one is Vietnamese citizen, entering Can Tho airport from Russia on flight QH9495 on September 26, and was transferred to a concentrated isolation site in Bac Lieu province, while the other is a female German expert who entered Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCM City from Frankfurt on flight QH 9058 on October 8. She was put into isolation in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

Both patients are now under health monitoring for COVID-19 treatment.

Among the tally of infections, locally-transmitted cases number 691, 416 are imported cases which were placed in quarantine right upon arrival.

According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, among the active cases in treatment, 20 in total have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the disease at least once or several times.

With the latest update, the country's coronavirus tally increases to 1,107, in which 1,024 were discharged from hospital and 35 died of various chronic conditions and COVID-19 related complications.

Statistically, a total of 15,777 people coming into close contact and returning from epidemic-hit areas are being kept in quarantine for health observation, with over 280 at hospitals. The remaining cases are undergoing self-isolation at home or at places of residence.
