Three more PVC officials detained in embezzlement case

Three more top officials of the PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC) will be investigated for “property embezzlement” under Article 278 of the Penal Code, police have said.

The three officials, PVC General Director Nguyen Anh Minh, Chief of Office Bui Manh Hien and Nguyen Duc Hung, former head of Finance and Accounting Division of the company’s Vung Ang-Quang Trach Project Management Board. 

All three accused were placed in temporary custody on September 29 and police also carried executed a search warrant of their residences and offices.

These actions continue investigations into a case of “deliberately violating State regulations on economic management causing severe consequences and property embezzlement” at PVC.

Earlier this week, four senior officials of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), including chief accountant Le Dinh Mau, were detained as the police expand their investigation into the case involving Trinh Xuan Thanh, former chairman of PVC, who was recently arrested on charges of economic mismanagement.
