Three Koreans freed from false job trap in Vietnam
VOV.VN - Police in Ho Chi Minh City have arrested four individuals involved in the illegal detention of three Korean nationals, who were tricked into coming to Vietnam with promises of easy work and high salaries.

Those arrested are Luo Shenghua (also known as Nam, a Chinese national), Vong Quang Tuan, Nguyen Thanh Phuc, and Le Van Kieu. They have been charged with “illegal detention” and are in temporary custody as the investigation continues.
On August 19, police in Lai Thieu ward received an alert from the Republic of Korea Embassy in Vietnam regarding the possible abduction of three Korean citizens. A coordinated operation by the Criminal Police Department and local authorities led officers to the Emerald Golf View apartment complex in Lai Thieu ward, where the victims were being held. Around 6:00 p.m., police raided the apartment, catching two of the perpetrators red-handed and freeing the three victims.
Initial findings indicate the victims had been seeking jobs in Korea when they were contacted via social media by an account offering high-paying work in Vietnam. After providing their passport photos, they were promised free travel and accommodation.
The victims entered Vietnam on August 14 through Tan Son Nhat International Airport and were first taken to a hotel in Thuan Giao ward before being moved to the Emerald Golf View apartment. There, they were told to sell their personal bank accounts or pay the equivalent of 4.5 million won (about VND80 million) as “expenses” before they could return home. Luo Shenghua is reported to have orchestrated the operation, demanded payments, and hired others to keep watch over the victims.
Police are continuing their investigation to uncover the broader network involved in trafficking and detaining foreign nationals under false pretenses.
