Three arrested after tragic labour accident kills 10 in Dong Nai

VOV.VN - The investigation agency of Dong Nai province in southern Vietnam has arrested three people after a wall of a construction site collapsed on May 14, killing 10 workers and injuring more than 10 others.

Law-enforcers conducted field inspections to gather samples for investigations

The three are working for Ha Hai Nga Co. Ltd. that has been hired to build a plant run by AV Healthcare of the Republic of Korea which specializes in producing tampons, diapers and milk bottles. One of them is the director of the company.

The plant is being built at Giang Dien Industrial Park in Trang Bom district, Dong Nai province.

Law-enforcers and relevant agencies were present at the construction site where the accident happened, to conduct field inspections and collect samples for the investigation.

Representatives from the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs are scheduled to arrive in Dong Nai province on May 15 to handle the case with the provincial administration.

The same day, provincial authorities and Vietnam Red Cross representatives visited and provided assistance to injured workers being treated at hospitals.

A big, long wall at the construction site of the RoK plant suddenly collapsed at around 2pm on May 14. Dozens of builders were working when the accident occurred.

Rescue workers pulled 10 bodies from the rubbles and took more than 10 to hospitals for treatment.

The Prime Minister extended condolences to relatives of the victims and asked relevant ministries and agencies to probe the cause of the accident.
