GMS comprises six countries, namely Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and southern China (Yunnan province). The six countries are members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which recently established the ASEAN Community.
In 2016, the Ministry of Labor has set a target to offer skill training for 2,000 personnel from GMS, especially those from CLMV countries, comprising Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
In 2017, it will increase the number from 2,000 to 2,350 and expand cooperation with the CLMV countries to cover all areas, especially technical, skill development, employment cooperation.
The Labor Minister recently presided over the presentation of certificates to 25 personnel from Cambodia and Lao PRD, who attended a skill training course in "Presentation and Meeting Skills” at the Chiang Saen International Institute for Skill Development.
