Storm Doksuri likely to develop into typhoon and enter East Sea
VOV.VN - Storm Doksuri is likely to develop into a super typhoon and become the second storm to enter the East Sea this year, said Nguyen Van Huong, head of Weather Forecasting Division under the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), on July 24.
Forecasters revealed that the storm is unlikely to impact the Vietnamese mainland. However, there will be heavy downpours and strong winds occurring in the North East Sea, which will pose threat to fishing vessels over the next 48 to 96 hours.
There will be also strong winds, rough seas, and high sea waves of up to 3.5 metres in the coastal areas in localities from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau province, the middle and southern areas of the East Sea, including the waters of the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.
On the evening of July 24 showers and thunderstorms with risks of tornadoes are forecast to take place in the middle and southern part of the East Sea, including the waters of the Truong Sa archipelago, as well as the waters from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to Kien Giang, and the Gulf of Thailand.
On July 25, the North East Sea is forecast to endure a period strong winds, rough seas, and high sea waves reaching between three and five metres.
