State President presides over the Ploughing Festival

VOV.VN - State President Tran Dai Quang on February 3 presided over the annual Tich Dien (Ploughing) Festival marking the traditional beginning of the rice growing season in Vietnam.

A large crowd estimated in the tens of thousands gathers for the start of the annual ploughing festival at the Doi Son Commune in the Duy Tien District of Ha Nam Province. 

State President Tran Dai Quang arrives at the festival.

State President Tran Dai Quang and local authorities offer incense to King Le Dai Hanh. 

From oxen-drawn to horse-power, tractors and ploughs of all vintages are featured at one of the country’s largest outdoor agricultural festivals.

The festival dates to the 10th century and is a time-honoured tradition of celebrating life on the farm.
