Sixth COVID-19 death recorded in Vietnam

VOV.VN - A 53-year-old female patient in central Da Nang city died of serious underlying health conditions and the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), raising Vietnam's count of coronavirus deaths to three in a single day and six in the nation.

According to Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Truong Son, the patient in Da Nang, had suffered from heart failure and chronic kidney failure for the past five and a half years as well as type 2 diabetes.

She received treatment at the Da Nang Hospital from July 19- 30 and tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2-virus on July 27. On August 1, the patient suffered from respiratory failure and had to be put on a ventilator and have her blood artificially filtered.

Her death was confirmed on the afternoon of August 2 with causes regarding acute heart failure, myocardial infarction, chronic kidney failure, diabetes and COVIFD-19.

By August 2 evening, the country has recorded 620 coronavirus infections, with 241 positive cases and six fatalities.

Since the recurrence of the virus among the community last week, Da Nang has recorded the highest number of infections with 120, becoming the pandemic’s latest epicenter in the country. Notably, the virus has spread to 10 provinces and cities nationwide, namely Da Nang, HCM City, Hanoi, Quang Nam Dak Lak, Quang Ngai, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, Dong Nai and Khanh Hoa.
