Six Vietnamese police officers deploy to UNMISS peacekeeping mission

VOV.VN - On the evening of March 15, at Noi Bai International Airport, the Ministry of Public Security held a departure ceremony for Task Group No. 8, whose members will serve in the United Nations peacekeeping mission at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in the Republic of South Sudan in 2026.

The six officers are Senior Colonel Nguyen Duy Tung; Senior Colonel Luong Thi Tuyet Nhung; Lieutenant Colonel Dang Thi Kim Anh; Major Phung Hai Anh; Captain Bui Quoc Binh; and First Lieutenant Hoang Anh Nguyet. All described the assignment as both an honor and a responsibility while representing Vietnam’s People’s Public Security in international peacekeeping operations.

Before departure, family members and colleagues gathered at the airport to see the officers off.

Speaking before leaving for South Sudan, Captain Bui Quoc Binh said joining the UN peacekeeping mission is both an honor and a responsibility for a Vietnamese public security officer. He hopes to contribute to maintaining peace and stability in conflict-affected areas while presenting Vietnam and its people as friendly and responsible members of the international community.

Prior to joining the peacekeeping mission, Captain Bui Quoc Binh took part in numerous assignments ensuring security for major events. These experiences helped him build skills in working with communities, inter-agency coordination and handling complex situations.

In preparation for the deployment, members of Task Group No. 8 completed a series of training courses meeting UN standards, including foreign languages, knowledge of peacekeeping operations, international law and skills for working in a multinational environment.

Lieutenant Colonel Dang Thi Kim Anh said participating in UN peacekeeping activities is a great honor for officers of Vietnam’s People’s Public Security. She affirmed her determination to fulfill the mission and help present Vietnam as a responsible, humane and peace-loving country.

Members of Task Group No. 8 also said the encouragement and support of their families and colleagues help strengthen their resolve as they carry out their duties at the UN mission.

More than 1,083 officers from the Vietnam People's Army and the People's Public Security forces have been  so far deployed to UN peacekeeping missions.
