Severe cold spell dissipates, warm weather expected in Northern Vietnam
VOV.VN - The severe cold spell which has blanketed northern and north-central localities of Vietnam over the past nine days is dissipating, and the localities are expected to get warm in a couple of days in the lead-up to the lunar New Year’s Eve.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, the temperatures started to increase from January 30, with the lowest temperatures ranging between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas and 19 to 21 degrees Celsius in lowland areas.
The weekend and early next week will even see temperatures rise to close to 30 degrees Celsius in northern localities, including the capital of Hanoi.
The warm weather is forecast to extend up to February 5.
However, a new cold spell is anticipated to hit the northern region from February 7, or the 27th day of the last lunar month, and last through to February 11, or the second day of the first lunar month.
The north will experience drizzles on February 10 and 11, with the temperature predicted to fall to 15 to 23 degrees Celsius.
