Seven earthquakes strike Quang Ngai province early on October 13
VOV.VN - The Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Centre under the Institute of Earth Sciences recorded 7 consecutive earthquakes in central Quang Ngai Province within a 2-hour span early on October 13.

The tremors occurred in Mang But and Mang Ri communes, with the largest measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale at 1:57:53 a.m. at a depth of approximately 8.1 kilometers. Other minor tremors, ranging from 2.5 to 3.6 in magnitude.
Although the quakes caused no damage, residents in upland areas clearly felt the shaking. All events were assessed at disaster risk level 0.
Nguyen Xuan Anh, director of the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center, classified these as induced earthquakes, a phenomenon that has been occurring frequently since 2021.
He noted that since 2021, hundreds of tremors have been recorded in Quang Ngai, particularly around the former Kon Plong District of the former Kon Tum Province, with several strong enough to cause noticeable shaking.
The strongest recent quake in the area was a magnitude-5.0 tremor on July 28, 2024, followed by a magnitude-4.7 quake in August 2022.
According to the expert, earthquakes in this area are expected to continue in the coming days. However, he added, the likelihood of a quake exceeding magnitude 5 is considered very low.
