Senior leaders congratulate catholic community on Christmas

VOV.VN - President Tran Dai Quang has underscored Vietnam’s unswerving policy of respecting and protecting citizens’ rights to freedom of belief and religion.

During his visit to the Cathedral Church of the Ho Chi Minh City’s Archdiocese on December 23, President Quang said that Vietnamese religious followers, including Catholics, have promoted their patriotism and contributed to national construction and defense thanks to the care of the Party, State, and local administrations. 

Life for Catholic people has constantly improved and the dioceses have been upgraded so that dignitaries and followers can wholeheartedly practise their religion and undertake citizens’ responsibilities. 

The President hailed the participation of religious communities and Catholic followers in particular in patriotic emulation movements, thus reinforcing the national great unity bloc and contributing to the cause of national construction and defence. 

There are more and more outstanding examples in Catholic parishes, who have made great contributions to charitable activities, poverty reduction and socio-economic development programmes, he emphasized.

There has also been stronger unity between Catholics and other communities. President Tran Dai Quang said he hopes Catholic dignitaries and followers will continue to help build Vietnam into a strong, democratic, fair, and civilized country.

Meanwhile,Hanoi Party Committee's Secretary Hoang Trung Hai  has congratulated Cardinal Nguyen Van Nhon and the Hanoi’s Archdiocese to mark the Christmas season.

At the meeting the same day, the municipal Party Chief praised the Catholic community’s contribution to the capital city’s achievements and unity.

Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) President Nguyen Thien Nhan extended Christmas greetings to Catholic dignitaries and followers in Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh and Thai Binh

During his meetings with the parishioners, the VFF leader expressed his hope that the local Catholic communities will continue promoting solidarity and contributing more to the nation’s development. 

He called on priests to join hands with parishioners in enhancing the national great unity bloc, protecting the environment and responding to climate change.
