Second monkeypox case discovered at Tan Son Nhat Airport

VOV.VN - The Ho Chi Minh City Health Department has announced the detection of a second case of monkeypox at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

This comes after a 38-year-old-woman displayed symptoms of fatigue, chills, muscle pains, headaches, and coughing, as well as rashes on several body parts from September 18 whilst traveling in Dubai.

Most notably, the second patient stayed in the same house with the first monkeypox case during their visit to Dubai. After her friend was found to have the same symptoms, the first monkeypox case informed local authorities to ask for their support.

After receiving the news, local authorities immediately isolated the patient after the plane landed at Tan Son Nhat Airport and subsequently transferred her to the southern city’s Hospital for Tropical Diseases for treatment.

Her results then came back positive on October 19.

At present, all of her close contacts are being monitored.
