Scorching heat to cover whole country during five-day holiday
VOV.VN - The entire country is set to experience a hot spell with some places recording temperatures of more than 40 degrees Celsius during the consecutive five-day national holiday from April 27 to May 5, including National Reunification Day of April 30 and International Labour Day on May 1.
It has been 10 years since all of the country’s northern, central, and southern regions last suffered hot spell during the April 30 to May 1 national holiday, according to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.
The hot spell will affect the northern and central regions, with daytime temperatures set to climb as high as 36 to 38 degrees Celsius.
In particular, the heatwave will spread across northeastern localities, including Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, and Hanoi. Temperatures in these localities are expected to rise quickly between 36 and 39 degrees Celsius, even exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in some places.
The area from Thanh Hoa province to Phu Yen province will also be extremely hot in some places, with the highest temperatures hitting 37 to 40 degrees Celsius and even higher.
From May 2, the heat in the northern region and the area from Thanh Hoa province to Phu Yen province will cool down.
People in the Central Highlands and southern regions will celebrate the April 30 to May 1 holiday amid hot weather, with temperatures hovering around 35 degrees at the lowest and 39 degrees at the highest.
Doctors warn that this level of heat could potentially threaten the health of people, especially children and the elderly, as well as labourers working outdoors. They therefore advise that adults keep children in airy homes during hot days, be fully vaccinated, and maintain a clean living area.
