Scholarship-focused college fair in Laos draws hundreds

VOV.VN- Counsellors from the Ministry of Education and Training on May 20 met with prospective students from Laos in Vientiane as part of a scholarship-focused college fair touting the opportunities available for post-secondary education in Vietnam.

Nguyen Xuan Vang from the Ministry told the several hundred students gathered at the event that there are currently more than 20,000 international students nationwide pursuing advanced studies in Vietnam.

In addition, he said that there are more than 100 prestigious universities from around the globe who have partnered with educational institutions in Vietnam to provide in excess of 400 training programs.

These programs run the gambit from language, culture, traditional medicine, economics, law to technology, said Mr Vang.

At the event, admission counsellors also talked with the potential students about the financial aid and scholarship opportunities available at educational institutions to help them achieve their higher education goals.

Kongsy Sengmany, deputy minister of the Lao Ministry of Education and Training, in turn said he has had the opportunity over the years to speak to a number of Lao students who have attended universities in Vietnam, and they told him it was a very positive experience for them.
