Samsung supports Vietnamese contestants in World Skills Competition
VOV.VN - The Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV), Samsung Skills Training Centre (SSTC), and the General Directorate of Vocational Training on May 11 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on a program to support the training of Vietnamese contestants and experts in attending the 45th World Skills Competition (WSC).
According to the MoU, contestants will participate in a training program, under which, Samsung will select the most outstanding contestants from the national skills contest underway from May 13-20.
This year, Samsung will support Vietnamese experts in the field of Mechatronics to meet the automation requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The select contestants will join a training course at the SSTC in Suwon, the Republic of Korea for 12 months. The Vietnamese candidates will receive training from the RoK’s experienced experts who have won top prizes in previous competitions, and learn about using different advanced technologies, and improve their qualifications through practical tests.
Samsung will also support Vietnamese expertsin attending training courses in the ROK before the WSC, and have pledged to cover the costs of training, travel, and accommodation during the 2019 World Skills Competition with a total fund of US$450,000.
At the signing ceremony, Bang Hyun Woo, deputy general director of Samsung expressed his group’s desire to improve the skills of Vietnam’s qualified staff as they prepare for the new wave of the Fourth Industrial Revolution as well as their participations for the forthcoming competition in a hope of winning top prizes.
Jang Dong Seob, SSTC Director said he hopes that with great support from Samsung, the Vietnamese workforce will make significant advancements in elevating their skills to compete in the international arena.
Last year, Tran Nguyen Ba Phuoc from the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City brought home a bronze medal in the occupation of IT software solutions at the 44th World Skills Competition held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates while Nguyen Thanh Duy also clinched a bronze medal at the same event in 2015 in Sau Paulo, Brazil.
This was also the first time the Vietnamese delegation won the medals after 5 competitions. These candidates were selected by Samsung from national skill contests and received direct training in the Republic of Korea.
