RoK to help develop Hue into a smart cultural and tourism city
VOV.VN - Hue city in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue hosted launched a Republic of Korea funded project to transform Hue into a smart cultural and tourism city.
The event was held by the Hue City People's Committee and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
The primary goal of the project is to develop a smart tourism information system, build an urban cultural tourism centre, and expand the pedestrian zone network to span throughout the former imperial city. Investors will install smart lighting systems and surveillance cameras along the banks of the Huong (Perfume) River.
The project will also help build and enhance public administrative capacity in tourism development and urban management.
Addressing the launching ceremony, Ahn Min-sik, consul general of the RoK in Da Nang, emphasised that over the years, the centrally-run city has co-operated alongside KOICA to deploy a range of important projects on the city’s master plan, with the aim of expanding green space for tourists and local residents.
The project is anticipated to put forth technical solutions to help visitors gain greater access to useful information about the city, he said.
Nguyen Van Phuong, chairman of the Thua Thien - Hue Provincial administration, underscored the importance of the smart city development project in enhancing the quality of people’s lives, as well as tourism services, aiming to turn tourism into a key economic sector of the locality.
