RoK Navy ship pays courtesy visit to Da Nang

The Republic of Korea Navy destroyer Kang Gam Chan, carrying 296 officers and sailors, docked at Tien Sa Port on May 4, commencing a three-day courtesy visit to the central coastal city of Da Nang.

A welcoming ceremony was held at the port, attended by representatives from the Naval Region 3 Command, Da Nang People’s Committee, Military Region 5, the municipal military and border guard commands, and the Ministry of National Defence’s foreign relations department, among others.

On the Korean side, attendees included the RoK defence attaché to Vietnam and staff from the country’s Consulate General in Da Nang.

The visiting Korean delegation, commanded by Colonel Kwon Yong Gu, is scheduled to pay courtesy calls to local authorities, including leaders of the Da Nang People’s Committee and the Naval Region 3 Command. In addition, crew members are set to participate in cultural exchange activities and joint naval training exercises with the Vietnam People’s Navy.

This port call by the Kang Gam Chan represents a step in strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between the Vietnamese and Korean armed forces, contributing to the countries’ broader comprehensive strategic partnership.
