VOV.VN - More than 270 Vietnamese citizens, including children under the age of 18, the elderly, people suffering from underlying illnesses, and those in extremely difficult circumstances were repatriated home safe and sound on November 6.
The flight carrying the citizens was arranged by Vietnamese authorities, the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, in coordination with competent agencies of the host nation.
Ahead of the flight, the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK sent staff to the airport to assist the citizens with necessary boarding procedures.
Vietnam Airlines strictly carried out in-flight security and disease prevention measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.
All crew members and passengers underwent compulsory medical checkups and were put into isolation in line with regulations regarding COVID-19 prevention and control after they touched down at Van Don international airport in Quang Ninh province.
More repatriation flights are set to be conducted in the coming time to bring home Vietnamese citizens with disadvantaged circumstances, depending on their need, the epidemic containment situation and local quarantine capacity.
