Remains of Vietnamese sailor killed in Houthi missile attack repatriated
VOV.VN - The body of Vietnamese sailor Dang Duy Kien, a crew member who was killed on March 6 in a missile attack by the Houthi rebels in the Red Sea, was brought back to his hometown on March 24.
His body was transported by a specialised aircraft to Noi Bai International Airport on March 24 afternoon and it was subsequently brought to his hometown in Vinh Bao district of Hai Phong city for funeral and burial.
Kien was one of three sailors killed in the attack on True Confidence, a Barbados-flagged cargo ship, by Houthi fighters off the coast of Yemen.
Onboard on the merchant ship were 20 people, including 15 Filipinos, four Vietnamese, and one Indian. Two Filipinos and one Vietnamese were killed in the attack.
Three other Vietnamese crew members, Pham Van Thanh from Hai Phong, Nguyen Van Tao of Hai Duong, and Phung Van An from Nam Dinh, managed to escape when the cargo ship was attacked and returned home safely on March 14.
