Remains of soldiers repatriated from Cambodia reburied in An Giang
VOV.VN - The remains of 99 local soldiers who sacrificed their lives during previous conflicts in Cambodia and Vietnam were laid to rest on July 20 at the Doc Ba Dac Martyrs' Cemetery in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang.
Of the total, 66 sets of the remains were discovered in Cambodia’s Kampong Speu, Takeo, Kandal, and Kongpong Chnang provinces. The rest were located in Tri Ton and Tinh Bien districts of An Giang province, with the four remains being successfully identified.
Upon their discovery between 2019 and this year, the remains were collected and returned to the country by the K93 team and the K90 team operating in Military Zone 9.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh expressed his profound gratitude to the martyrs, all of whom sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom enjoyed by all present-day citizens.
Binh went on to thank Vietnamese authorities along with the Cambodian provinces for creating favourable conditions for teams to facilitate the search.
