Remains of fallen soldiers in Laos reburied in Dien Bien

VOV.VN - The People’s Committe of the northern province of Dien Bien held a memorial and reburial service of 12 sets of remains of Vietnamese soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the wartime in Laos.

The event was attended by representatives from the National Steering Committee 515, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, and the Military Zone 2 High Command.

Of the remains, one set was discovered in Luang Prabang province by the Military Zone 2's searching team while the remaining were found in Oudomxay province. Each of the remains had been repatriated to Vietnam and handed over to local authorities.

Major General Tran Ngoc Tuan from the Military Zone 2 High Command said that during the dry season between 2018 and 2019, a total of 42 sets of Vietnamese martyrs’ remains were brought home for reburial service that follow military etiquettes.

Major General Tuan added that the search for remains of Vietnamese soldiers who sacrificed their lives in Laos will continue in the coming time.
